கடைக்காரர் சாந்தி கொடுத்த காசோலை வங்கியில் ஏற்கவில்லை என்று கூறுவதைக் கேட்டு சாந்தி அதிர்ச்சி அடைகிறார். தனது பணத்தை தீபாவளிக்கு முன் தரவேண்டும் என்று கார்த்திக்கிடம் ஒருவர் வாக்குவாதம் செய்கிறார். அர்ச்சனாவை சாந்தி நகை வாங்கிக் கொள்ளச்சொல்கிறார். ஆனால் அர்ச்சனா அதற்கு மறுக்கிறாள்.
The shopkeeper tells Shanthi regarding the decline of the cheque. The loan shark asks Karthik to return the money before Diwali. Shanthi tells Archana to get a necklace for Diwali but she refuses to accept it.
