சிவன் சதியை தண்டிக்கிறார்!
சிவனிடம் சதி யாரை நினைத்து எந்நேரமும் தியானித்து கொண்டிருகிறீர்கள் என்று வினவுகிறார். அதற்கு சிவன் சதிக்கு ஸ்ரீ ராமரின் கதையை கூறுகிறார். சிவனின் வார்த்தையை மீறி சதி ஸ்ரீ ராமரை பரிட்சிக்கிறார். தாரகாசூரன் அவன் நினைக்கும் இரு சந்தர்ப்பங்களில் நாரதராக மாற வேண்டும் என்று நாரதரிடம் வரம் வாங்குகிறான். விஜயா சிவனையும் சதியையும் பிரிக்க திட்டம் தீட்டுகிறாள். சிவன் தன் வார்த்தையை மீறி ஸ்ரீ ராமரை பரிட்சித்த காரணத்திற்காக சதியை தண்டிக்கிறார்.

சதி தான் ஆதி சக்தியின் ரூபம் என்பதை உணர்கிறார்!
விதுர்மானியின் செய்கையால் சதி வெகுண்டு எழுந்து ஆதி சக்தி ரூபம் கொண்டு உலகை அழிக்க முற்படுகிறார். விதுர்மானி பயந்து சிவனை அவர் கொடுத்த வரத்திலிருந்து விடுவிக்கிறான். சிவன் சதியை சாந்த படுத்துகிறார். சதி தான் ஆதி சக்தியின் ரூபம் என்று உணர காரணமாக இருந்தமைக்கு விதுர்மானிக்கு அவனுடைய தந்தை தாரகாசூரனை நாக பாசானத்திலிருந்து விடுவிப்பதாக வரம் கொடுக்கிறார். சதியும் சிவனும் கைலாயம் திரும்புகிறார்கள்.
